I’m not kidding when I say that sushi (salmon and cucumber centers) and onigiri are awesome foods for studio! Quick and easy to make, clean and effortless to eat. Made them an hour before class (which includes waiting for the rice to cook).

For my second attempt at mochiko chicken, the skin turned out crunchier than the first time, which is a definite improvement! I can’t wait to cook these for other people.

First attempt at roasted carrots – burned a few of the smaller pieces, but they turned out very nicely.

Here I am, stuck in Wurster (no surprise), working on another project due tomorrow. I’m in one of those moods again, where I find myself sipping a cup of hot chocolate and walking around in the cold, night weather. Sometimes, I just want a shoulder to lean on – no words or extra feelings – just someone with whom to share silence.

Wasting Time

Today is a good day. My SeaGate external arrived today, so I’ve been transferring stuff over (sort of) and cleaning up the apartment. Now, only my desk and the middle of the bedroom is messy. I’ve also resorted to random art things as a form of procrastination. Yay me? I should get back to internship and class stuff soon before I get scolded. :\

And yes, those are receipts from the past year. It amazes me all the time how much money we spend on a daily basis. Looking at it makes me feel like the guy that decided to keep his trash/recyclables for a whole year to see how much waste he produced. It will be interesting to see how much of these end up being placed on my wall after this year.

Also, I didn’t take a picture of it, but the bird picture (Copic marker, leftover cardboard, and Muji pen) is sitting on this cracker box hybrid I made by combining two cracker boxes in a staggered manner. I can’t wait to get more boxes to add more to it.

PS. Did I ever mention how much I love recycled art? Makes me happy. I want to do the penny thing in a bigger scale sometime in the future.

Tired of Waiting

There are some things in life for which you have to wait and some for which you have to take the initiative. Too much of one or the other is just plain unfair. For these almost five years, I think I have been doing a lot of waiting, but I’ve also taken a lot of initiative. Twice more than the other party, which doesn’t seem like much, but if you consider how they have not taken any initiatives at all, it puts it in some sort of perspective.

I admit, I can be very impatient sometimes. Perhaps that is why I am so terrible at all types of cooking and baking, but that is beside the point. I have been very patient for these years, waiting for something to happen, perhaps a little too patient. In fact, after a lot of thinking about where I am in life and the people I should keep around, I have begun to feel very restless and perhaps a little disappointed. One can always hope for a person to change (Oh, wishful thinking!) and although that person has changed quite a bit over the years, their core personality that cannot take initiative remains. Some people may tell me to take the initiative once again, but I do not have the heart to anymore. It is not that I no longer care about the party, I truly still do, but any more of this waiting would not be productive for either.

Perhaps a bit of this stems from how similar our personalities are to my parents, who do not get along at all nowadays. I can see why though and in a way, it concerns me. Maybe I need to be more patient, or maybe I just need to find another party that knows how to step out of their comfort zone and for once express their own feelings without having me to start the conversation. I do not think I can live with this any further. Although fond feelings remain, I’m done waiting, and it is time to move on. Sorry to those people that have been waiting for something to happen, because it won’t.

Berkeley Apartment

Hmm, what to say about this place? It’s pretty small and quiet, but since it’s near the street, it can get pretty loud sometimes when the garbage trucks come by in the morning. The thing about Northside is that it’s far from pretty much everything, but that’s what I like about it. Gives me my alone time when I need it, but if I really need to go somewhere, I can get there since it’s still close to campus. I have also met some cool people that live on Northside, so I’ve actually gained something from living so far away. There are some internal things that need to be worked out with the janitor, like the lack of water heating and cleaning, but overall, I’m pretty happy with it.
