Post 100: Dips Ahoy!

with 5 comments

Yayy, my 100th post! :] I can’t believe that I’ve written that much. I hope I can keep writing, but there really hasn’t been anything interesting lately. Aside from me slaving away on schoolwork day and night, nothing is new. Well, there IS Thanksgiving Break (and I’m very grateful for this break). As you all know, that crucial week before a break is always filled with 918023 tests and quizzes, and this week was no exception, especially Friday. Rollercoaster project was being tested, two tests, and a quiz. I was so tired, you could seriously call me a zombie. Good thing all the exams were relatively easy~ The only thing that kept me awake was the roller coaster project.

We started the roller coaster project either Monday or Tuesday. We were given an endless amount of tubing and a roll of duck tape. We could use anything in the classroom or whatever we brought in to make it, as long as we incorporated in our roller coaster: 3 loops, a corkscrew, a tunnel, 3 hills and 3 valleys, and a DRAMATIC FINISH. Needless to say, Brian and Brandon were in our group. Our group got the space at the back right of the classroom where the refridgerator and vending machine is. That was not a very good choice on our part.

Everything went along pretty well. We got in a corkscrew right from the start and had our first loop is already. The first loop was courtesy of my awesome meter-stick-tepee-making skills (and a stool). Seriously, it was awesome. We were getting off to a good start, BUTTT we lost a ball bearing to the evil refridgerator. That same day, Brandon and Brian went in during lunch and added another loop to the lab station. I went in during 7th period and added a corkscrew on the table, a jump, another loop, and all our hills and valleys. We were practically done! It all worked up till then. When we went back to school the next day, NOTHING worked. The tape got in the way of the first corkscrew, and it kept stopping. We ended up removing that first corkscrew later on. We added and removed a tunnel and set up several barriers. It was pretty much the same thing over and over again for the next day. We ended up removing a lot of the stuff we set up. When I went during 7th period on Thursday, my awesome tepee fell over and killed the whole middle portion of our roller coaster. I spent that hour pretty much redoing everything. It was working at about a 66% rate. In the process, I think we lost.. 2-3 ball bearings to the refridgerator. I also added our big dramatic finish this day. I drew a dinosaur mouth and attatched it to a paper “cup” I made. In case anyone is wondering, as Mr. Frogue did, I have NO IDEA what kind of dinosaur/crocodile it is. Let’s just say it’s a mix. So after the hills and valleys, there would be a loop, and the ball bearing would just run into the dinosaur mouth. Cool, no? ;D On Friday, the big test day, the first drop was not working out for us. It just kept falling off! I blame it being too fast and the drop being too steep.  Needless to say, during our first trial, this kept us from finishing. All we did to fix it for the second trial was add a few paper barriers to the parts that were unstable. Of course, it went PERFECTLY the second time. :]]

I would say that the two coolest roller coasters were Chris P. and Titus’s and Chase, Carlo, and Jake’s. Chris P. and Titus’s incorporated a jump through a hoop, and Chase, Carlo, and Jake’s made Crystal Light at the end. How dramatic is that!? :O

The only group that didn’t finish till 7th period that day was Eric, Hiro, and Raymond’s group. Hiro ended up knocking off one of the stools that kept the first half of the roller coaster up during lunch, so they had to start over and do everything 7th period. I’m sad that they took out the part that spelled out “emo”, but they ended up finishing after their 5th try, so I’m proud of them!

This really was a fun project. My fingers really hurt from ripping duck tape (which is incredibly strong, by the way), I cut myself with one of those dirty biology scalpels, and we lots about 5 ball bearings in total (which I will probably pay for on the Monday of next week), but it was totally worth it. Looking back, I really don’t know how we did it. I’m pretty sure it should not have worked out at all, but it did, so I’m happy. :] I would retake physics just to do this project.

I know I shouldn’t rant..

about my AP scores, but I will anyway. So in the end, I received a 4 in European History and a 4 in World History. Of course, I was extremely happy with my World History score, since I didn’t even take the class. XP The European History one, however, I was extremely disappointed. I was certain I was going to get a 5. Everyone has been telling me that the 4’s were good, but I’m still mad for some reason. I guess not meeting my own expectations has me down as well as the fact that most people got 5’s in Euro. Oh well, I’ll do better next year! :]

Mr. Haygood…

without comments

is totally sexist and mean.

I swear, he is the most annoying teacher I have ever met. About every 30 minutes, he likes to mention how girls don’t know how to drive. Generally, it’s true, but seriously, it annoys me. I hate it when teachers just make generalizations like that.

Oh, then there’s another problem with my name. Like with all the teachers that don’t know me, he has been calling me Yolanda for the past 5 days and even has that on his grading sheet. When I told him that my name was spelled with a “t”, he got all pissed off and said in this really annoyed tone, “Is that so?”. So yeah, I don’t like him. I wish I had taken art instead of stupid driver’s ed. It really is boring in there, and I don’t learn anything, which makes me even more mad than I am now.

Oh, and I’m thinking about starting a post question every time I post something. It’s meant to make people reply, because I like getting replies and it’s fun to post random questions. Okay! First question: Why the heck would an eighteen-year old boy steal $17.50 from two children’s lemonade stand? (Go Yahoo! the story if you don’t know about it already. It really is funny and sad at the same time)

Books

without comments

I jut realized how badly I need another bookshelf. The whole bottom row is filled with folders with my past schoolwork (6th grade onward) and the rest is just any other books and random things I could fit in there. The whole thing is so packed, I had to turn my smaller books sideways so I could make more room. Now I can’t find any books to read. -___________- I’m planning on starting and finishing Jane Eyre this week, if Maplestory permitting. ;D I swear, once I go on Maplestory, I don’t log off unless I need to go eat or sleep – which is just about never. By the way, I’m level 39 already! I outleveled Brandon very badly and I’m just about passing Belle. I logged off two hours early today to let them pass me though. I’m looking forward to Barnes & Nobles tommorrow as well as Viva La Vida!

Oh, now I remember why I was writing a wordpress post. 2B and 3B pencils. Brandon, Brian, Morgen, and Hiro needed them, and I only had two 3B pencils. Brian and Morgen got them, and Brandon couldn’t find one. Poor Brandon. DD: I’ll let you borrow my 6B, H, or B pencil. :D D

So lately,

without comments

I’ve been in a very bad mood about everything. Even the smallest little thing got me really ticked off and I ended up snapping at a few people without even realizing it.

Let me start with German. So we had a quiz on section two on Wednesday, and apparently, no one studied. Everyone kept asking what “bush” and “poverty” were, and that really pissed me off since 1) they should have studied since Mr. Platt told us we were going to have a quiz and 2) since we were taking a quiz, they shouldn’t have been talking. The only person nearest me that was complaining about how they didn’t know any of the stuff was Melissa, and because she asked about seven times what most of the stuff was, I ended up saying something along the lines of, “Mel, you should have studied. All of this vocab was in the book”. I said it in a really mean way though, so I feel really bad about it. I hope she did well though. We had an extra day to finish it afterall >3<;;

Christy. What about her does NOT piss me off? Well, I think that’s a rhetorical question? I didn’t get that paper… anyways. So on Wednesday, we had a home meet against Pomona. For some reason, Jesus’ parents were there, so Christy was freaking out before our race. I seriously had to listen to her complain to Tammy about how she was so nervous about them being there for about half an hour before the actual race. So as usual, she came in last, and blah blah blah, the usual. Tammy was in the first scoring heat, and she came in dead last, which was really bad, and she usually does a lot better. After though, Tammy seemed really depressed, so I went and talked to her. Then, I heard the most OUTRAGEOUS thing ever. Before the race, Christy had actually bribed Tammy to lose to her so she could look good in front of Jesus’ parents. How low is that? To ask someone to lose a race so she could look better? And how would even winning a race make her look better? If anyone ever had doubts regarding her low intelligence, I think that would just about cement it. The worst part was, she even asked Katie (Okay, I admit that I don’t know how to spell her name, but I think her full name is Katyln..) and was going to ask me. No one ended up taking her bribe and she never asked me because according to Tammy, she knew that I hated her and that I probably wouldn’t take it anyways. So that had me really pissed off and I was going to talk to her about it, but I ended up doing Mel’s outline with Daniel.

I also forgot to announce Michelle’s birthday! It’s a little late, but…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHELLE! <3

May your following year be filled with happiness and good fortune.

Cougar Classics

with 3 comments

It was tiring. It was cold. It was wet.

That pretty much sums up the day. We got to Azusa Pacific University a little past 7:30 and the sky was so grey and gloomy. We got up to the stands and just sat there for about an hour until the actual meet started at 8:30. The whole time, Vivian, Morgen, Brian and I were putting in our rubber spikes. I had opened my new pack of spikes and put them all in, when the announcer announced that the spikes had to be a certain type, so I took out all of my new ones and got these crappy spikes that half didn’t fit in my shoe. However, the spikes were a bit thicker than my 1/18 ones, so that was a good thing. However, when I was screwing them in a bit tighter, I kept hitting my face, and one of the spikes took out a chunk of my right thumb. Anyways, that was a good time killer until my 110 HH race at 10:45. By now, it was giving a good sprinkle. It was so cold, I kept having to slap myself in order to keep warm. Worst of all, I kept feeling like I couldn’t jump over it. But I ended up doing all right, 4th place in heat 2 for Frosh/Soph! (Place 11/14 overall — lane 8 aka the worst lane everrr by the way) There was a chance for me to be 5th, but Vivian fell and so I got my place. My time was 26.67, and if I’m not mistaken, my time last year was a border 28? So I suppose I have improved. Right after this, I went and bought a JUMBO chili cheese dog. Man, that thing was so good, but the chilli was nasty after awhile. So by now, it was around 11, so I really had to go to the bathroom. All there was around the stadium was only the portable toilets, so I didn’t feel like going until my event at 1:40. However, Melissa told me that she just went to the dorms and went to a REAL bathroom in there. So I went by myself to try to find it first, then dragged Vivian along. We ended up not finding it and chickened out before we could go into the dorms themselves. When we got back, we ran into (okay, I admit it, I forgot her name) and hung out in front of the potables for about 15 minutes when Daniel Cedeno came along and said he had to take a dump. For about 12 minutes (that’s how long Daniel was in there, we were so bored.. okay?!) we just stood there outside like idiots. We shook Daniel’s portapotty and threw tape at it ’cause he was taking so long. Then we wondered how horriblt it would be if the thing actually tipped over with him in it. D: When he FINALLY came out, Brian came from the stands, and we decided to find the real bathrooms because we all had to go by now. Vivian ended up asking people and we FOUND REAL BATHROOMS! It was in the Wilson dorms, and man those must have been cool places to live in. They had couches, vending machine, and everything! When we got back, the 800’s were already starting, so we took a VERY long time there. I saw that Nikki and Riva were already down there “warming up” so I took my stuff and ran across to the field. When I got there… they were up in the stands again! That was very silly of me. :] When the 800’s ended, we were about 10 minutes ahead of schedule. We got to the 100 starting line and got our heats and to my surprise, I got placed in the first heat with all the fast people >:[. I ended up being last, and by 1 second! (I think my time was 1:27) so I'm quite happy with myself. My hip started to hurt after this one for some weird reason. It was this stabbing sort of pain, but I ran it off with Sarena and Shereen when I warmed up with them. There was a surprising thing that happened next. BRIAN GOT 2ND RIGHT BEHIND GEO IN HIS RACE! :O I was very surprised that Brian was that good. So congrats to him! :] We ended up waiting together for Shereen and Sarena to run their 200 so I could give Shereen her pants back and get my shoes from Shereen. We waited for about 20 minutes, during which Brian got this cheap cup of coffee and I ate about two packets of brown sugar.  Sarena did fairly well, and for some reason, I never saw Shereen run with frosh/soph. After a while, we realized that she got put in Varsity! :O She got last, but she wasn’t all that far behind. So good job Shereen! (and you know my shoes helped. ;DD). By now, it was STILL raining, so we just went back to the stands and just did whatever. Soon after, Sarena, Shereen, and Morgen left with Steven to go eat pho. I was going to go too, but I felt like staying, so I stayed. I went and talked to Richard about his problems for about an hour. Some pretty interesting things were said, espcially when Kyle joined in on the conversation. I even found out what Kyle REALLY wanted for his birthday, and I think it’s a nice, yet sad wish at the same time. Richard then left to help at the snack bar, so I just sat around for awhile and decided to go and help out at the snack bar too. I didn’t do much except stand around and got chicken strips for it. Yay me! I should have helped out more, but that’s okay. It was pretty much closing already anyway. After this, I just watched the races for about two more hours, and I got so soaked! My hair was completely wet because I didn’t have a hood, and my jacket turned about two shades darker. When we got on the car, man was it hot in there! Martin sat in front of me and smelled like onions, so that wasn’t a very pleasant ride. We also kept writing “Brandon & Yvonne. Forever & ever & ever & ever” on the windows. That was funnn~ So that’s about the end of track. Overall, an interesting and fun day! I just wish it was toward the end of the year more so I could have prepared a little better for it.

Sorry for how it’s all jumbled up. I’m still tirded out from having been away all day.

First Track Meet!

with one comment

All I can really say is that it went well. For the first time, I’m not the second to last person or the last person. I was the third to last person, number 4, in both of my races. We were against Monrovia and Duarte in this first meet. For some reason, Duarte only had one 300 H person, and Monrovia had about 4.

For the 110 Hurdles, I set the blocks all weird, so when I got up to the first one, I ended up stuttering. Because of that first one, I ended up stuttering all the way. In the end, Vivian and Katie (I think that’s her name?) beat me along with this Monrovia girl. I was so close, about a foot away from beating the two of them. D: Oh well, at least now I know I can beat them if I did my 5 step! There was also this girl that was freaking out at the beginning, saying she didn’t want to do it. She ended up stopping on the 8th hurdle, so I yelled, “You can do it! Keep going!” out of nowhere. That was fun, I guess.

For the 300 Hurdles, I pretty much just took it easy today. It wasn’t a jog, but it also wasn’t my full on sprint. I did pretty well though, beating this Monrovia girl who had problems jumping and was just walking over them, as well as Rebecca who was having problems jumping over them. Tammy did VERY well. She beat me by at least one hurdle. And she said that I would beat her!?

Everyone else did really well too. Especially Brian. He went over all of them pretty well except for one of the last ones on the 300 where he ended up stepping on it, XD. He came in 3rd to last? I’m not really sure, since my eyesight was failing me. Brandon and Morgen did well too! I’m surprised that Morgen beat Brandon though.  D:

Oh, and for something fun: Before we warmed up, Shereen, Sarena, and I went to the bathroom, and a whole bunch of people from Monrovia came in. There was this really tall black girl who started to walk around, and she said, “Wow, dis skoolz so nasty. Dontya’ll clean up `round here?” — That was pretty funny, and Shereen tried to explain to her that it was 6th period, and they clean up afterschool, but she just kind of walked off…

DIE TEST DIE!

with 5 comments

So today was quite possibly the most tiring day this month. We had three tests and one quiz. First was the German test. The first listening part was HILARIOUS. The guy sounded so old when he was supposed to be like, 7. The culture part was pretty easy as with the other reading parts, but I’m sure I missed a few here and there. The writing wasn’t all that bad. Herr Platt helped me correct a few things, so it should be okay. I don’t feel very confident in it, but whatever. I already took it.

Then the English quiz, I felt so bad. I got everything except number 18 the first time around, so I asked Mr. Bryant if he could repeat it, and he says NO! Then Noah said out loud, “uselessness” in order to help me out and Mr. Bryant got to mad at him. I felt so bad, but at least he didn’t get in trouble. :[ Funny thing is, that I was the one who got futility during the game.

Then it was the Biology test. My gosh, the writing part was easy, but the matching was hard as hell. There were two that used tools, one that used fire, and a whole list of cranial capacities. I’m pretty sure I got all of them, but I might have gotten one or two mixed up. The True and False portion was a piece of cake, but I know I got one wrong on the multiple choice. I put marmoset for one of them, and it was the wrong answer. Now I feel like a failure for not getting a perfect on a stupid bio test.

After that was the math testtttttttt! It was only 10 questions, so I was a bit mad since I thought there’d be more. I’m pretty sure I did them all correctly, but I didn’t get a chance to look over it and check my answers, so I’m feeling a bit paranoid. I ALWAYS make mistakes and end up catching them the second time around, so let’s hope that this time I didn’t make a mistake. I want to beat Eugene (my mortal enemy!) and Brandon’s 99% score. That would be pwnage, and I studied! >:[ I’m pretty sure I did number 10 correctly, but Tammy said that Eugene got 6 answers instead of my 4, so now that makes me even more paranoid about whether or not I messed up somewhere. I’m pretty sure that there weren’t any negatives since I remember not squaring. Oh, now I’m ranting, but this get’s my anger out and stuff… so let’s wait for our grades on Monday! I’m hoping for a 95%+ on all my tests/quiz, so please no negative thinking, Brandon. DD:

Oh, and today we got next year’s band music. YAYYYY! Oh, how that makes me feel like such a nerd, XD I passed out Marimba music to Kevin, and Vibraphone music to Sophia already. I’m not sure if Jackie is coming back, but if she is, she’s probably going to xylophone again? Chase will get timpani’s, and I’m thinking of moving Marco to the gong and base drum. As for the new people, I have NO IDEA where I’m putting them. I don’t know any of them, and they all sound like ditzy little 7th graders. And there was so many of them! I bet most of them will drop before the season even begins though. By the way, anyone in Triad remember when we are supposed to go to Traweek?

Track! We had an easy day today. Just a bunch of strides and that was it. We got out at 3:00 today, so I was happy. I hung out and played first movement for a bit until my mom came. It was raining outside, and the brass sounded horrible trying to play the new music outside. XDD As for my sore legs, they’re getting a little better. I don’t feel them as much anymore, except for when I just stand around. I found that I have to keep moving around. I also got this bad pain in my leg during our second to last stride. Sarena said that I had to drink more water. Okay, that’s all for now. My finger hurts a little. D:

Boredom

without comments

So it’s another three day weekend and I’m bored. So I decided to start iconing again! I got about 30 done in about two days, most of which I am very proud of. As always, they can be found at Celea. My favourites would be:

On Saturday, we had this mandatory track practice. We could either go at 6 or at 9, and I chose to go at 6. All we did was run a few hurdles then run 6 150’s. It wouldn’t have been so hard if it wasn’t  FREEZING COLD. I was serisouly so cold, I couldn’t even lift my feet up. I was literally dragging my feet during the warm up because it was so cold. The 150’s was even worse. I was running with Xiomara and Felicia, so I had to run faster even though at that point, I couldn’t feel my feet. It was worth waking up so early though. The sky was very pretty as the sun was coming up. I feel like painting it sometime, but I’m way too lazy. Even though it was so hard to run, no one fell that day, so it’s all good. However, I did get a big scratch on my thigh as I just walked over my last hurdle. It hurts so much when I sit. >:[ After that, Sarena, Steven, Kyle, Morgen, and I went to iHOP! I got stuck in the middle in the back next to Kyle and Morgen, and it was so squished. D: They also put the hood down (Morgen almost got his finger amputated as we were trying to figure out how to do this by the way) so I couldn’t see anything because my hair got in the way. It was my first time going there, and the food was delicious. I had Strawberry Banana French Toast, and I actually finished them! There were 6 triangles. Man, I miss HK style french toast. After we finished that, we hung out at Sarena’s house and watched this show called Ninja Warrior. It is so entertaining and stupid at the same time. It’s just a whole bunch of macho guys, transexuals, and weirdos trying to test their strength by going through this obstacle course. It’s so funny when they fall in the water, XD. We ended up staying there till 12, by which Sarena and I were falling asleep already. We called Derek to go play Rock Band, but then canceled to go home. As an added note, April did not remember me! I’m surprised. :[ So that’s about the most exciting part of my weekend.

Then there’s Monday (about 3 hours away). The time of year when I start to feel older than I already am and I want to be a little kid again. Yes, my birthday. I’m not even close to thirty and I’m already dreading my birthday! Yay me? My birthday this year will be as boring as always. I turned down my mom’s proposal of a birthday, so I’ll just be sitting around as always. Fun, no? I might go out, but I’ll probably be too lazy to. All I want right now is a dark chocolate cake with mangoes. Oh yes, so delicious. D: As for presents, I really don’t know what I’m getting. My mom asked me what I wanted, but I really don’t know. If I really could have anything in the world, I’d ask for more sleeping time and perhaps something to stop me from procrasination. But yeah right, like that would ever happen! That’s about all I’ll write for today. I feel like starting my history and bio reviews.
